Display Help
The Diomede
weather station displays a weather condition report, derived from these
sensor readings:
- Solar
Radiation
- Displayed as either Sunny (above 350 watts per meter), or Bright (above
200 watts per meter)
- Wind
Direction
- Displayed as degrees north and cardinal direction (N, NE, E, SE, S,
etc.)
- Wind
Speed - Displayed
in Miles Per Hour (mph).
- Barometer
- Displayed in Millibars (mb).
- Cloud
Ceiling - Displayed as cloud base and cloud depth pairs,
in feet (ft) above the water. The ceilometer can measure up to three
discrete cloud layers.
The weather
station's web display is fully automatic, producing new display values
once every ten minutes. The web camera image is also refreshed once every
ten minutes. The weather page is designed to automatically refresh itself
in your browser, once every five minutes, in order to always display the
most current data. If the weather values are not current, the date and
time may change color to indicate that the data is not current. Please
note that the weather display is automated, and is not verified for accuracy.
Example
weather display:
05-17-2008
13:21 - Sunny, 32degF, wind:5deg(N) 13mph, Baro:1013mb, Cloud Base:750ft
Depth:430ft
The above
display was produced at 1:21PM, Alaska Standard Time (AST), on May 17,
2008. The display indicates that it was a sunny day, 32 degrees Fahrenheit,
with wind blowing from the North at 13 miles per hour. The barometer
indicates 1013 millibars, and the ceilometer reports a single cloud
layer with a base at 750 feet, and a depth of 430 feet. A cloud report
of "None" means that the ceilometer has found no cloud layers.
A cloud report of "missing" indicates a malfunction with the
ceilometer.
